InterAgency Council [IAC] is an organization of non-profit agencies that provide services to individuals with mental retardation and developmental disabilities, and their families, in New York City and the surrounding suburban counties of Rockland, Westchester, Nassau and Suffolk, Our 120 member agencies operate more than 800 programs for infants, children and adults. The Commission on Quality of Care for the Mentally Disabled serves people with mental disabilities and their families by providing independent oversight of the quality and cost-effectiveness of services provided by all mental hygiene programs in New York State. It administers five federal formula grant programs through which it provides legal and non-legal advocacy services to persons with disabilities to assist them in obtaining the services and protections of federal and state laws.
