Volunteers are always welcome and needed.
Our Buddyball programs depend on the support and participation of our volunteer buddies.
Buddyball is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing the opportunity for children with special needs to learn, play, and enjoy recerational sports. Buddyball initiated its inaugural season in the fall of 2001 with soccer, then a year later added Basketball in the winter, and now also runs a spring tennis and track program. Through the assistance of local organizations, individuals, and schools, we are reach out to as many children as possible, to offer community based recreational sports programs, grouped according to the general abilities of the children that register.
We utilize the concept of providing each child with a Buddy; a volunteer between the ages of 8-18, that will help guide the registered child through the sports activities with as much or as little assistance as is needed. Adult volunteers are also welcome to help coordinate, but our buddies are primarily children who want to help other children. Our fundamental operating principle is to provide a flexible participative sports environment where children can interact, learn different sports skills, and most of all, enjoy themselves.
Our programs run on the weekend- Soccer is on Saturday mornings, Basketball and Tennis/Track on Sunday mornings. Each program runs for between 6-8 weeks. If you are interested in volunteering (or would like to register a child), please email us at info@buddyballsports.org or just come out to whatever session is being run. Volunteers are asked to arrive 15 minutes before players so they are there when the players arrive.
